My work is a visual hybrid of photographic, collage, and painting methodologies. It is firmly rooted in analysis of representation via specific gender and racial theoretical filters. I am interested in the liminal space that these overriding concerns create in the work. It allows me to extract various cultural categories of analysis that would otherwise go unnoticed.
Currently, I am investigating identity politics of the male body and its representation online. Masculinity and whiteness are key components of my research. My research begins as an archive of images procured online from social networks, blogs, forums, and image banks. The images go through a classification system creating multiple image subsets that inform the type of work I will develop.
