Proliferation of online pedestrian photography encompasses an endless range of mundane posturing. This work investigates masculine modes of representation and how these constructs reinforce traditional normative gender behaviors.
In this series, I alter online photos of military servicemen proudly displaying their bodies and tattoos presumably to a spectator back home. Most of these photographs are taken overseas, sent via email, and overwhelmingly young white guys. Somewhere along the way they have been redistributed online through social networking sites, online photo album sites, and pornographic sites.
